Skills vs. Talent

Many people believe writing is a born with talent; either you have it or not. But in fact, writing in its basic form is nothing more than a skill; you either master it or not. Just think of the following: There's a crucial difference between expressing yourself in writing, and presenting your subject in writing.

 

Writing : A skill or a talent ?

 

 

  In the first case, writing takes the shape of its master's mind; if emotional , it will take the sentimental road, if cynical it will take a comic stand, if inquiring it will put on an analytical glasses, if romantic it will play a dramatic role, if psychopathic, it will unleash fierce demons and twisted angels . writing thus adhere to its master's wishes and eccentric characteristics. Here writing takes its well deserved title : a Talent , and its master becomes a Writer. 

Writing in its second case is a tool, if used correctly it will convey your presentation of a subject efficiently. And for that tool to work, you need to learn how to utilize it in terms of form and content. Building up a writing piece requires learning grammar, sentence structure, paragraph styling, and good reservoir of vocabulary for you to establish solid form. Turning your piece of well formed writing into worth reading article, you simply need logic when presenting your content. Ideas need to be presented within logical order : introduction , supporting body , conclusion.  

 

So, no need for you to be a writer to know how to write. Always remember that even a talented writer would still need to master writing skills or their troubled soul won't find a decent escape.
